V-TORQ

  • The V-TORQ is our variable speed coupling which can vary the speed of the load side. The torque can be actively adjusted to follow a process variable such as pressure, level or flow for speed control. Applying the V-TORQ makes energy savings up til -50% possible.

 

  • The V-TORQ is suitable for motors with a capacity of 7,5 to 375 kW. Just like all Zytec couplings the V-TORQ also eliminates or significantly reduces problems associated with misalignment, vibrations and shock loading.

  • The specific advantage of a V-TORQ is the ability to reduce the speed of the load variability.  Installations of centrifugal pumps or fans are often larger than the system requires. Traditionally a choke valve is placed in the system and used to create artificial resistance to flow until the desired flow rate is achieved. This is a waste of energy. With the V-TORQ energy savings up til -50% are possible. You choose a V-TORQ to control your system and for the energetical benefits, but for your Total Cost of Ownership calculation you must also take the mechanical benefits savings into account. 

 
 

What does a Zytec coupling do?

The Zytec contact-free magnetic coupling is a game-changer in the rotational equipment sector. The coupling unlocks hidden energy and CO2 reduction potential and costs. Installations become contact-free but are still connected by the coupling, see the video and drawings below. This provides never before seen levels of reliability, safety, sustainability and lower TCO. This innovative technology makes it possible to save up to 50% of energy consumption and reduce up to 50% of operating costs. Applications include pumps, fans, generators, compressors and conveyors which are used in sectors such as industry (general), Water and Waste Water, Heating Ventilation Air-Conditioning (HVAC), Chemical Industry, Oil and Gas Industry, Maritime Sector, Pulp and Paper Industry and Mining.

How does a Zytec coupling work?

The principle of all Zytec Couplings is the same as used in electric motors. The magnetic coupling works by rotating copper discs (Inductor) at the motor side and a Magnet Rotor at the load side to transfer torque. The permanent magnets mounted in the Magnet Rotor change the magnetic fields in the Inductor and creates loops of electrical current (called Eddy Currents) which results in a drag force. As soon as the Inductor, driven by the motor rotates,  the Magnet Rotor rotates under the influence of the magnetic field without any physical contact between the Inductor and the Magnet Rotor. By increasing or decreasing the air gap between the Inductor and the Magnet Rotor the speed of the load can be controlled. This contact-free controllable connection offers many advantages. APPLICATIONS

  • Pumps have been through the process design always overdimensioned in relation to the safety factor. 75% of alle pumps are minimum 20% to large (Fraunhofer Institute). With Zytec coupling you can now easily optimise your pump immediately after commissioning.

  • GENERATORS

    Reliability and Total Cost of Ownership are at generators very important. By using the magnetic coupling that can significantly be improved.

  • COMPRESSORS

  • CONVEYOR BELTS

    With the use of the contact-free magnetic coupling the coveyor belt can be made shock resistant. Commonly used in conveyor belts are fluid couplings. By using a magnetic coupling the overall maintenance costs can be reduced and reliability increased.

  • In many special machines like shredders, bucket elevators, etc are typical problems such as vibrations & shocks which can be solved if a magnetic coupling is applied. Furthermore will the reliability increase and maintenance costs will be significantly lower.
